Ashes
Sitting alone in a room
Staring
At a solitary flame
Burning out a part of yourself.
You used your memories
As the fuel
And now you see it burning with many colours
Your colours
It turns Yellow,
the colour of the joy you felt
the promises you made
then Red
the quiet anger that ate at you,
the sudden pangs of guilt
then Blue,
for all those sleepless nights growing up
then Purple
for the bruises that words sometimes inflict
And finally bright blinding White
Nothingness
From substance to smoke
You burn a part of yourself away
And once it starts to turn to ash
Regret isn’t an option
It was your choice to sit and stare
You chose this
Burn it all down
